Turbulent airflow – for 5 to 50 CFU/m³
Supplying air at ceiling level with a relatively high impulse is standard practice in operating rooms. This approach keeps the concentration of contaminants evenly distributed throughout the area. Turbulent airflow works according to the dilution principle: the greater the airflow, the cleaner the space.
In principle, air can be supplied any which way as fresh influx is effectively mixed with old.
Two examples:

In either case, the operating room should be supplied with ultra-clean air, which then evacuates the “old” air via exhausts in the wall.
